Wednesday May 13th, 2015

On Wednesday 6th May, WEN Wales launched the first four research briefings in our new ‘Women’s Equality Now: The Position in Wales Today’ series at the Senedd in Cardiff. The event was sponsored by The Presiding Officer, Dame Rosemary Butler AM.

The Presiding Officer, Dame Rosemary Butler AM, launching the WEN Wales research briefing series.

The four briefings are based on up-to-date research compiled for WEN Wales by the Bevan Foundation. They outline where Wales currently stands on the following key issues for women and girls: Unpaid Care, Diversity, Devolution and Poverty and Economic Violence.  Each briefing ends with three questions which can be used to facilitate further discussion and WEN looks forward to hearing your comments.

WEN Wales was founded in 2010 to give a voice to organisations and individuals working to promote gender equality in Wales.  Our research briefings will support our members by highlighting matters of inequality, providing evidence and clarity on important issues, and creating opportunities for dialogue between women and decision makers. We hope that the briefings will be widely used in lobbying and influencing work, and to build capacity by supporting the development of training and funding bids.

We look forward to continuing the series as a staple part of WEN’s work to continually address the most pertinent needs of women in Wales.
