Agnes Twiston Hughes

28 September 1895 – 20 October 1981

After training alongside her solicitor father in Conwy, North Wales, Agnes Twiston Hughes became the first Welsh woman to qualify as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1923. She worked for her family practice for the rest of her life, tirelessly supporting her local community. In her retirement, Hughes became a local Councillor and later the Mayor of Conwy.
