As MSs return to the Senedd following the summer recess, we’ve created a new way to join our campaign by emailing your Members of the Senedd.

Our recent State of the Nation report exposed that progress on gender equality in Wales has stalled.

Women’s poverty is on the rise, the gender pay gap has widened, and violence against women and girls remains at crisis levels.

To help you fight for a Wales free from gender discrimination, we’ve created a simple email template to send to your new Senedd Members.

It only takes a couple of minutes, and will help us raise gender equality up the priority list of the new Senedd.

Despite years of commitments and initiatives, the daily lives of women across Wales have seen only limited improvements since 2018 – with women from marginalised communities facing the worst inequalities. 

Our report found that:

• The gender pay gap in Wales has increased to 9.7%, with significant local disparities. 
• Over 80% of sexual assault cases, and nearly three-quarters of domestic abuse-related offences, are committed against women.
• Representation in leadership remains fragile – whilst women now make up 46% of Senedd members, this relies on voluntary party initiatives and varies greatly across parties

Women’s equality in Wales is at a crossroads.

The new Welsh Government has a significant opportunity to respond to the challenges, address inequalities, and make Wales a true world leader on gender equality.
