Gender Network

Women's Rights CEDAW Senedd Lobbying

The Gender Network is a policy forum of 80 third sector representatives, activists and academics fighting for women’s rights in Wales, administered by WEN Wales.

WEN Wales is funded by the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) to run this Gender Network, as part of the Third Sector Partnership Council (TSPC). The group meets quarterly, and information is disseminated to the network on a weekly basis.

We share information, update each other on our work and formulate joint policies because together we are stronger. To mark the countdown to the next Senedd elections in May 2026, the Gender Network has published its Wales Women’s Rights Manifesto and calls on all political parties to put gender equality at the heart of the next Senedd election.

We previously published joint manifestos ahead of the 2021 Senedd elections and the 2024 UK General Election. Our work has highlighted the impact of rising costs of living on women who experience intersecting discrimination, the experience of ethnic minority women in prison, and more to relevant Ministers and Committees. We have provided training opportunities on human rights legislation and committee engagement, and successfully called for a dedicated Equality and Social Justice Committee following the 2021 Senedd elections.
