Invitation to Showing of Suffragette and Thursday’s Child at Chapter Arts Centre

Dydd Llun Hydref 26th, 2015

We are super excited about the new Suffragette film and have teamed up with Chapter in Cardiff as part of their ‘Onwards and Outwards’ season to put on an exciting evening of films and discussion.

Join us for a screening of Suffragette at Chapter on Wednesday November 4th at 6.10pm. Afterwards we will joined by Angela John, author of ‘Turning the Tide’, a biography about the Welsh Suffragette Lady Rhondda, Michele Ryan (Red Flannel films), Mwenya Chimba (Bawso) and Gaynor Legall (Diverse Cymru) for a panel discussion.

This will be followed by the screening of ‘Thursday’s Child’ where historian Gwyn Williams takes us through the origins of Sylvia Pankhurst. Best remembered as a suffragette, she was also a passionate supporter of the Russian Revolution, a founder of the first British Communist Party and a talented visual artist.

Chapter is showcasing a number of films as part of the ‘Onwards and Outwards’ season. A unique programme of films made by British women filmmakers over the last 50 years. It draws attention to the lack of knowledge surrounding the conditions for women working in the UK’s film industry, highlighting women filmmakers who have excelled in making works of independence and originality and raising the profile of these key issues – See more
